Antarctica. It always seemed so unattainable to me. But after two days at sea, and a year of anticipation, I was mesmerized when we first caught sight of a few rocks off Elephant Island through the thick fog – harbingers of our imminent arrival on the fabled White Continent. The entries are in from our #DitchComfort Photography Challenge, and we were truly blown away by the submissions, which came from all over the world! Fellow photographers have inspired me with their stories, their efforts to push their limits as people and as artists, and with the results of stepping outside of their comfort zones.
Congrats to our winner, Paul May, for winning the Grand prize of a 1-hour photography consultation and critique, and a copy of Summits & Starlight, and to our four special mentions (we couldn’t choose just three!), who will also receive a copy of the book. Thanks as well to everyone who decided to #DitchComfort and submit their photos. Some of you stepped outside your comfort zones just by entering, and I really appreciate the effort.Read More
It has been a wild year here at Paul Zizka Photography, with opportunities to shoot throughout the mountain parks and in remote destinations on the other side of the world. This collection comes from images I have posted on my Facebook Page. I don’t often have the chance to tell the stories behind the images, and the process is a far cry from “point and shoot”. So, for this round-up of top images from this past year, I have written out the stories behind each one. Thanks for taking the time to view and read, and I appreciate all your support the past year!Read More
Last night we had a nice aurora display last night over Banff National Park. It was pretty subdued to the naked eye overall, but the camera picked up a wonderful colour palette.
