Nepal's Grand Canyon

This image was taken at dawn from the hills of Mustang, as the distant valley fog rose towards the snowy summits of Nilgiri and Annapurna. The canyon shown in the centre of the photograph, that of the mighty Kali Gandaki, eventually becomes the deepest gorge on Earth as it squeezes between 8,000ers Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Syangboche, Mustang, Nepal.

f/11.0, 15 seconds, ISO 50, 17.0mm on Canon 17-40mm f/4L USM on Mk II body.
