A Nepal Rarity

Lakes are surprisingly rare in the Nepal Himalaya. Our group suspected that the bedrock allows the surface water to drain quickly. In 10 weeks, we only saw a handful. This gem (called Chola Tsho) was perhaps the prettiest one of them and combined with stunning Cholatse (peak in the background) made up one of the most stunning scenes we saw on our journey. Chola Tsho, Sagarmatha National Park, Nepal.

Excellent composition and focus on the lichen in the foreground. It's a refreshing change to see shallow DoF in landscape shots…. good choice!
