Cosmic Convergence

Sometimes it all comes together: the stars above, the glow of the aurora, the reflection on placid waters, the moonlit peaks… A scene from a special night at Lake Minnewanka (last Friday).
f/4.0, 10 or so minutes, ISO 400, 17.0mm

    Saw this shot on the Banff FB site. Great job dude! Although personally, I'm always after as much detail in the aurora as possible (but I'm an astronomer in my heart)

    Thanks for commenting Olivier! Usually I would agree with you but I could not pass up including a naturally-lit foreground and in order to do that I had to give the moon its time to shine! I also find that foregrounds are left out of 99% of night photographs and I personally feel they are a nice addition to such images.
