Lake Louise’s First Climb

The Lake Louise area was for a long time a hotspot of mountaineering in Canada. One of the early climbers was Samuel Allen, who in 1893 made its way to the top of the first mountain ascended in the immediate vicinity of the Lake, Collier Peak. 118 years later its SW ridge still offers great, aesthetic climbing. The great arc of Mount Victoria forms the background.
Climber: Dave Paynter.

f/4.0, 1/750, ISO 125, 17.0mm.
