Wild Bill’s Haven

A slightly different view of famous Peyto Lake. The lake was named after Wild Bill Peyto, one of the Canadian Rockies’ early outfitters and most colourful characters. Legend has it that after a full day of dealing with tourists at nearby Bow Lake, Peyto would head up to his namesake lake alone to find peace in the evenings. Even today, when all the daytime hustle and bustle is over, it is easy for one to see how Peyto felt sitting there, looking down the Mistaya Valley. Peyto Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.
