Star Trails and Silhouettes: Night Photography Workshops with Paul Zizka (July/August, 2013)

Choose from July 26-28, 2013 or August 23-25, 2013 *SOLD OUT*

Sweeping high above craggy peaks and moonlit lakes, the night skies in the Canadian Rockies are a dream for any photographer willing to pull the red-eye shift in front of the camera. Few take advantage of the chance to capture these nighttime scenes, brilliantly painted with stars, planets and galaxies, or if you are lucky, the aurora borealis.

Join Paul Zizka for a weekend of night photography in Banff National Park! This workshop is based out of Banff Aspen Lodge, a centrally located hotel in the Town of Banff, where you’ll enjoy comfortable accommodations (to sleep off your night photo sessions!), access to an outdoor hot tub, and an editing room open to only workshop participants. Afternoons will allow time for editing, feedback and further instruction.

Photographers should have a good understanding of their camera settings and bring the following gear:

  • Camera, preferably DSLR, which allows manual control of shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings
  • A sturdy tripod
  • A cable (or wireless) shutter release
