“Awash” – 2013 Floods in Banff – 6 months later

6 months ago today Alberta experienced torrential rainfall that led to the worst floods in the province’s recorded history. Environment Canada called the event the top weather story of 2013 in Canada. Our little town of Banff was largely spared, especially compared to neighbouring communities such as Canmore, Exshaw and High River. Still, many areas around town remained underwater for several days following the downpour. Here are a few scenes I gathered around the townsite. I did not risk my life to take any of these and remained away from the areas that the authorities recommended avoiding. :-)

The photos are wonderful Paul. They reminded me of the flood we had when I was living in Saguenay in 1996. We feel so small when facing elements of nature.
